Global Warming Cult Targeting School Kids

The Global Warming Cult is creeping into every corner of our lives it can. The election of the far left socialist/marxist to be our President only makes it easier to get to your children. Pay attention before it’s too late.

You Will Learn To Worship Me

You Will Learn To Worship Me

Guilt trips for driving gas-powered vehicles, eating hamburgers and powering gadgets are the order of the day. Then teens are to go home and tell mom and dad about their sins too.

Global warming is proving more dubious by the day, but the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE) is not shy about recruiting Boston’s next generation to promote their alarmism.

The nonprofit group launched months ago and wants to inspire 140,000 teenagers to join its climate-change activism by the end of this year.

They’ve hired educators with flair for the theatrical to deliver their one-sided message via high school assemblies, captivating hundreds at a clip.

Rappers, actors, athletes, ministers and other dynamic personalities sync their talks with amusing PowerPoint presentations and slick animation to pump up the fear.

The idea is to motivate teenagers, and subsequently everyone in their spheres of influence, to modify their behaviors so as to stop global warming. This is achieved by cutbacks in their energy use, which ACE believes produces too many greenhouse gases (from fossil-fuel combustion like coal and oil) that warm the planet.

So guilt trips for driving gasoline-powered vehicles (carbon dioxide), eating hamburgers (methane from cow flatulence) and powering gadgets (more carbon dioxide) are the order of the day. Then teens are to go home and tell mom and dad about their sins too.

ACE is based in Oakland, Calif., and was created by wealthy wind-energy entrepreneur Michael Haas. The organization has targeted five metropolitan areas besides Boston: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington and Houston.

Haas, who donated $24,600 to President Barack Obama’s campaign and victory funds last year, stands to reap millions of dollars in government subsidies that climate change-driven renewable energy policies would bring. ACE looks like an effort to assure the growth of his business into future generations.

ACE lobbies school boards and administrators for permission to give its presentations, ensuring delivery of its propaganda to hundreds of potential foot soldiers for the cause.

But ACE’s talks are infected with falsehoods, like telling the students they’ve lived through the 10 hottest years on record (1934 was really the hottest) and that greenhouse gas emissions are jacking up the global thermostat way too high.

Scientific studies that counter these fibs and exaggerations are left out of the presentations.

For example, many solar physicists believe we may be entering a prolonged cooling period due to diminished sunspot activity.

Atmospheric scientists, who observe actual data rather than depend on dubious climate models, have seen no recent temperature increase (on average) in the oceans or on the surface of the earth during the last decade.

Unfortunately many teachers and administrators don’t do their homework and let the Alliance for Climate Education pull students from classrooms to be taught rewritten history and biased forecasting.

Bottled Water: You Should Be The One To Choose

The Natural Resources Defense Council has changed their mind about the safety of tap water. Back in 2003 they said it was contaminated and not safe to drink. Now they say throw away the bottled water and drink tap water. Confused? When it makes no sense, follow the money. And the money is in following what the Gloworms and Greenies say right now.

This is still America. You should be able to make your own choices.  Sign the petition HERE.

More Science Fiction From The Global Warming Cult

This is straight out of An Inconvenient Truth. Then they add some gloom and doom hysterics for good measure. And all while we head into the next ice age.

WASHINGTON – Melting ice from global warming may raise sea levels even more than had been expected, an analysis suggests. Long-term melting of ice in Antarctica and other areas could raise sea levels by 16 feet to 17 feet, previous studies have indicated. But a report in Friday’s edition of the journal Science warns that factors not previously considered could boost that increase to up to 21 feet in some areas.

Earlier research has focused on melting ice adding water to the oceans and on thermal expansion of sea water in a warmer climate.

In the new report geophysicist Jerry X. Mitrovica and physics graduate student Natalya Gomez of the University of Toronto, Canada, and Oregon State University geoscientist Peter Clark, say other factors need to be considered.

_When an ice sheet melts, its gravitational pull on the ocean is reduced and water moves away from it. That means sea levels could fall near Antarctica and rise more than expected in the northern hemisphere.

_Antarctic bedrock that currently sits under the weight of the ice sheet will rebound from the weight, pushing some water out into the ocean.

_The melting of the West Antarctic ice sheet will cause the Earth’s rotation axis to shift, potentially moving water northward.

“The net effect of all of these processes is that if the West Antarctic ice sheet collapses, the rise in sea levels around many coastal regions will be as much as 25 per cent more than expected,” Mitrovica said in a statement.

Those are some good old scare tactics right out of The Goracle’s Global Warming Handbook. The 20ft sea level rise has been debunked even by the gloworms themselves. The Antarctic ice is growing, not melting.  And that axis shift, pure science fiction gold! And notice how it all is unprovable. Just words, just speeches, just theories…..

CO2, Polar Bears, and Volcanoes

A New Years Eve Wrap Up. Courtesy of Phil Brennan of Newsmax. Video and pictures added by Me.

If you want to get an idea of just how absurd the global warming propaganda has gotten, consider a current TV commercial that suggests that “our green planet” will cease to be green if we don’t do something about the things that threaten its greenness, such as growing levels of atmospheric CO2.

Think about that for a moment. Ask yourself this question: What makes our planet green?

If you guessed CO2, you’re right. CO2 is to trees and foliage and all vegetation what oxygen is to humans — they can’t survive without it. It’s what makes them green and healthy.

The more CO2, the greener and healthy our planet. Yet the global warming fanatics are classifying CO2 as a pollutant and blaming it for dangerously warming our (fast cooling) planet.

How stupid do they think we are?

They call CO2 a “greenhouse gas” getting that description from what happens when the sun penetrates the glass in a greenhouse and not only heats its interior but also traps the heat, which cannot escape trough the panes enclosing it.

Atmospheric CO2, we are assured, acts like the panes of glass in the greenhouse, trapping the heat in the atmosphere and thus warming the planet. But CO2 levels have skyrocketed since 2000, and guess what’s happened?

It’s gotten colder, that’s what happened.

Maybe some kid broke the glass in the greenhouse.

Then there’s the latest panic about the alleged plight of the polar bears. According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) polar bears face extinction — but not quite yet.

According to the WWF, “With 20-25,000 polar bears living in the wild, the species is not currently endangered, but its future is far from certain.”

They go on to assure us that, “If current warming trends continue unabated, scientists believe that polar bears will be vulnerable to extinction within the next century.”

To help stop that from happening, the WWF would like you to send it money.

Didja hear that? Mo money.

Didja hear that? They still believe it!

Like all solemn pronouncements from the warmiacs, the predictions concerning polar bear extinction is based solely on computer models, not on what’s happening now. Remember, the group said, “The species is not currently endangered.” And what’s happening now is the swelling of the polar bear population, which grew from a low of 5,000 to 10,000 in the ’50s and ’60s, according to The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Moreover, a 2002 U.S. Geological Survey of wildlife in the Arctic Refuge Coastal Plain noted that the polar bear populations “may now be near historic highs.”

A Jan. 30, 2008, report from the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee notes, “The alarm about the future of polar bear decline is based on speculative computer model predictions many decades in the future. And the methodology of these computer models is being challenged by many scientists and forecasting experts.”

In other words, garbage in, garbage out (GIGO).

The report cites Canadian biologist Mitchell Taylor, wildlife research director with the Arctic government of Nunavut, as saying: “Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present.”

Taylor added, “It is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria.”

A study by Scott Armstrong of the Wharton School at the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania and his colleague, forecasting expert Kesten Green of Monash University in Australia, found that one of the two key reports in support of listing the bears had “extrapolated nearly 100 years into the future on the basis of only five years data — and data for these years were of doubtful validity.” GIGO!

Asks botanist David Bellamy, a famed U.K. environmental campaigner, former lecturer at Durham University, and host of a popular U.K. TV series on wildlife: “Why scare the families of the world with tales that polar bears are heading for extinction when there is good evidence that there are now twice as many of these iconic animals, most doing well in the Arctic than there were 20 years ago?”

If you want something real to worry about, try an eruption of the Yellowstone caldera where scientists have discovered that the ground is over 70 centimeters higher than in was in 1923 — indicating a massive swelling underneath the park.

Mount Saint Helens Erupts 1980

Mount Saint Helens Erupts 1980

There was a swarm of 16 earthquakes in 24 hours this past weekend. The reservoir is filling with magma at a staggering rate. The volcano erupts with a calendar-like cycle of every 600,000-650,000 years.

The last eruption was more than 640,000 years ago.

Last time it erupted, 642,000 years ago, it ejected 1,000 cubic kilometers of magma into the air. If this happened in today’s world, it would kill millions and cover most of the United States in a layer of ash at least a centimeter thick. The lighter ash would rise up into the atmosphere, initiating a volcanic winter and ruining crops worldwide.

This is something genuine Al Gore could get really his teeth on. Instead of recommending carbon caps, he could suggest sacrificing a few virgins to the god Vulcan. It would be cheaper than cap and trade.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! SEE YOU IN 2009.

Global Warming From Coast to Coast

Yeah, right. Bone chilling cold, record snowfalls, power outages and stranded travelers. Does it sound like Global Warming is helping us out at all? We could use some. A degree or two hotter during the summer is NOTHING compared to what happens every winter. You just don’t see the kind misery that winter brings. And new records are set around the world every winter. So just what is wrong with a little warming? Better food crops will result in less world hunger, travel by ship through the Arctic Passage will improve shipping times and reach more people, and oranges will grow again in Northern Florida and Georgia. (ask swampie)  Gloworms are a moronic bunch. The Ice Age Cometh.

Ducks on ice in Seattle

Ducks on ice in Seattle

The weather outside was frightful from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Ore., on Monday, with last-minute holiday shoppers shivering and stranded travelers hoping for the best as Christmas rapidly approached.

The little town of Eustis, Maine, got nearly 3 1/2 feet of snow.

In Marysville, Wash., north of Seattle, heavy snow collapsed part of the roof Monday at the Whitley Evergreen factory, which makes modular buildings. No one was injured, but inspectors were dispatched to make sure other buildings in the business park were safe.

The 14.5-inch snowfall Sunday in Portland, Maine, surpassed the old record for Dec. 21 of 12.4 inches, set in 1933. On the other side of the country, a total of 11 to 13 inches in Portland, Ore., was the biggest snowfall since January 1980. Depending on how much more fell Monday as the snow trailed off, the storm could rank as one of the city’s 10 worst on record.

“It is amazing,” said Dave Thompson, spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation. “You say to yourself: ‘That’s Portland?’ The roads are snowpacked, covered with ice and it’s freezing rain.”

Kim Osgood, who owns Paloma Clothing in the Hillsdale Shopping Center in southwest Portland, served hot cocoa on Sunday and gave away $24 crampons — foot gear for ice and snow climbs — to anyone spending $50 in her store.

“This is the worst Christmas I have ever seen in 33 years,” Osgood said. “The good news here is for shoppers. If they can get out, they’ll get amazing bargains.”

Save The Planet! Just NIMBY

Mt. Shasta Ski Park

Mt. Shasta Ski Park

A power company’s plans to amplify snowstorms in the north state have sparked a debate about cloud seeding.

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has installed seven propane-burning cloud seed “generators” – collections of equipment that propel silver iodide particles into the air – atop ridges in Siskiyou and Shasta counties.

The generators are set to go into use by the end of winter and should enhance storms over the Pit and McCloud river watersheds, said Byron Marler, a supervising meteorologist for the San Francisco-based company.

“It’s like having a whole new Burney Falls added to those rivers,” he said.

The cloud seeding, which will be done 40 to 50 times a winter, should more than match the amount the water that flows over the north state’s signature waterfall, said Paul Moreno, company spokesman.

He said it will produce 130,000 acre feet of water per year, enough to flood 130,000 acres a foot deep in water, or 1.2 times as much as flows each year over the falls near Burney.

Now that sounds like a great idea. More snow in a water and snow recreation area, more water for clean and green hydro-electric power, more water in our drought stricken lakes, more water for the farmers, and yes, even more water for those SoCal city dwellers. What could be wrong with that? Well…..

But the company’s plans also have caused a flood of concern, especially from people in Siskiyou County, where much of the snow would fall.

Already involved with the McCloud Watershed Council, Angelina Cook of Mount Shasta said she’s starting to organize a group of people with questions about cloud seeding.

Most people first heard of the PG&E project in October through newspaper notifications, and Cook said she now has an e-mail list of 50 people who are actively involved.
“And that’s just a fraction of the people who are concerned about it,” Cook said.

This is the same person who has effectively shut down the new water bottling plant planned for McCloud using the excuse there’s not enough water. Now she will try to shut down a project that will make more water. I know she said people have questions and concerns. That’s code for, Not In My Backyard. They will try to shut it down, mark my words.

Key concerns are cloud seeding’s effect on overall climate, impacts to systems set to handle only the current amount of precipitation and introduction of silver iodide particles to the environment.

Among the concerned is Rene Henery of Mount Shasta, who is directing climate research at nearby Castle Lake for the University of Nevada at Reno.

He said he’s worried that PG&E’s cloud seeding could skew the data at the heart of his work and is concerned that there don’t appear to be any regulations on seeding.

Set to handle only the current amount of precipitation? We’re in a DROUGHT!

How would it skew his data? Facts are facts. Does he mean it would make it harder to promote the Global Warming Lie? Wouldn’t more snow slow that dreaded Global Warming?

Officials at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources Control Board, as well as with both Siskiyou and Shasta counties, said they don’t regulate cloud seeding if it is done on private property.

PG&E’s generators are on private land, mostly owned by Anderson-based timber giant Sierra Pacific Industries, Marler said.

Although PG&E did not have to obtain permits or complete environmental documents about the cloud seeding operation, Marler said it’s working with Siskiyou County officials so they understand what will be happening in the skies.

Lifted aloft in the exhaust of burned propane, the silver iodide particles – which he said are harmless to plants and animals – trigger the development of ice crystals within clouds, Marler said. Those ice crystals fall as snow rather than blowing away as moisture in the wind, he said, increasing snow production by 5 percent to 10 percent.
“It doesn’t create snowfall where there wasn’t snowfall,” Moreno said. “It just enhances snowfall.”

Moreno said cloud seeding is used throughout the state, and PG&E has had an operation to boost the snowfall around Lake Almanor for more than 50 years.

Along with providing heavier water flows at the company’s hydroelectric dams along the McCloud and Pit rivers, Marler said the cloud seeding also will provide more water for drought-stricken grazing land and forests.

“We are not the only ones who are going to benefit from this,” Marler said.

These are all good things from PG&E.

NIMBYs and Gloworms, there is just no pleasing these people.

And on a personal note, I do live in the effected area, right on the banks of the Pit River. More snow? Bring it on!

Arctic News Confusing

Well, here we go again. Global Warming causing the arctic ice to melt, Global Cooling causing the arctic ice to grow. Let’s take a look at the gloworm’s story first.

OTTAWA – The incredibly rapid rate at which Canada’s Arctic ice shelves are disappearing is an early indicator of the “very substantial changes” that global warming will impose on all mankind, a top scientist said on Wednesday.

Researchers announced late on Tuesday that the five ice shelves along Ellesmere Island in the Far North, which are more than 4,000 years old, had shrunk by 23 percent this summer alone.

Oh really?

The largest shelf is disintegrating and one of the smaller shelves, covering 19 square miles (55 square km), broke away entirely last month.

“Climate models indicate that the greatest changes, the most severe changes, will happen earliest in the highest northern latitudes,” said Warwick Vincent, director of the Centre for Northern Studies at Laval University in Quebec.

“This will be the starting point for more substantial changes throughout the rest of the planet…. Our indicators are showing us exactly what the climate models predict,” he told Reuters in an interview.

Global warming is forecast to generate more damaging weather extremes such as hurricanes, cyclones and floods.

Oh, really? Hurricanes, cyclones and floods being caused by global warming has been proven false years ago. That’s why they call it a “Hurricane Season”. Some have more, some have less, but history shows it’s cyclical, and the big ones hit at any time.

Now let’s look at the growing ice, and the coming mini ice age, which is far worse than a little warming.

Data from the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) has indicated a dramatic increase in sea ice extent in the Arctic regions. The growth over the past year covers an area of 700,000 square kilometers: an amount twice the size the nation of Germany.

With the Arctic melting season over for 2008, ice cover will continue to increase until melting begins anew next spring.

The data is for August 2008 and indicates a total sea ice area of six million square kilometers. Ice extent for the same month in 2007 covered 5.3 million square kilometers, a historic low. Earlier this year, media accounts were rife with predictions that this year would again see a new record. Instead, the Arctic has seen a gain of about thirteen percent.

William Chapman, a researcher with the Arctic Climate Research Center at the University of Illinois, tells DailyTech that this year the Arctic was “definitely colder” than 2007. Chapman also says part of the reason for the large ice loss in 2007 was strong winds from Siberia, which affect both ice formation and drift, forcing ice into warmer waters where it melts.

Earlier predictions were also wrong because researchers thought thinner ice would melt faster in subsequent years. Instead, according to the NSIDC, the new ice had less snow coverage to insulate it from the bitterly cold air, resulting in a faster rate of ice growth.

Most concern has focused on the Arctic regions, rather than Antarctica. Recent research has indicated Antarctica is on a long-term cooling trend, for reasons which remain unclear.

Earlier this year, concerns over global warming led the US to officially list the polar bear a threatened species, over objections from experts who claimed the animal’s numbers were increasing.

You be the judge. But in my opinion a little warming, can’t hurt as much as a little cooling.

Enviro-nut News Roundup

Here are some of the latest goofball ideas being thrown at us by the Enviro-nuts and Gloworms.

Cow farts collected in plastic tank.

Eating Beef Worse Than Driving

Producing 2.2lb of beef generates as much greenhouse gas as driving a car non-stop for three hours, it was claimed yesterday.

Japanese scientists used a range of data to calculate the environmental impact of a single purchase of beef.

Taking into account all the processes involved, they said, four average sized steaks generated greenhouse gases with a warming potential equivalent to 80.25lb of carbon dioxide.

This also consumed 169 megajoules of energy.

That means that 2.2lb of beef is responsible for greenhouse gas emissions which have the same effect as the carbon dioxide released by an ordinary car travelling at 50 miles per hour for 155 miles, a journey lasting three hours. The amount of energy consumed would light a 100-watt bulb for 20 days.

Worms Cause Global Warming.

Mr Frederickson told Materials Recycling Week said: “Everybody loves worms because they think they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming.

“The amount of worm composting is very, very small and the amount of landfill is huge. But landfill sites are quite well run these days and it is possible to extract about half the gas they generate and use it for electricity generation.

“So the amount of nitrous oxide emitted by large scale worm composting is something we should be looking at before we go further down that route.”

Mr Frederickson said that the research he and his colleagues had done was on very large commercial worm composting “beds” which build up large amounts of nitrogen which is then emitted by the worms as gas.

Global Warming Causes Glaciers To Grow

“It’s a bit of an anomaly that they are growing, but it’s not to be unexpected,” said Ed Josberger, a glaciologist at the U.S. Geological Survey in Tacoma, Wash.

You can read my take on the glacier story HERE.

Clean Air Causes Global Warming, Global Warming Causes Smog.

In today’s “People Can Prove Whatever They Want If They Really Try Hard Enough” moment, Swiss scientists claimed early this week that efforts to clean the air over Europe the past three decades are responsible for at least half of that continent’s 1°C rise in temperatures since 1980.

In an interesting chicken and the egg conundrum, scientists in America claimed Thursday that global warming causes smog.

There are more stories out there, but that has to be it for now. Enjoy….

So. Just What Can We Eat?

It seems that we have another emerging “Earth Shattering” problem being added to the Tree Huggers and Animal Rights people. The Plants Rights People. Now we can’t eat veggies because they may have feelings too. I guess we are supposed to eat dead bark off the trees we hug. What will be left? What is a politically correct person do do?

At the request of the Swiss government, an ethics panel has weighed in on the “dignity” of plants and opined that the arbitrary killing of flora is morally wrong. This is no hoax. The concept of what could be called “plant rights” is being seriously debated.

A few years ago the Swiss added to their national constitution a provision requiring “account to be taken of the dignity of creation when handling animals, plants and other organisms.” No one knew exactly what it meant, so they asked the Swiss Federal Ethics Committee on Non-Human Biotechnology to figure it out. The resulting report, “The Dignity of Living Beings with Regard to Plants,” is enough to short circuit the brain.

A “clear majority” of the panel adopted what it called a “biocentric” moral view, meaning that “living organisms should be considered morally for their own sake because they are alive.” Thus, the panel determined that we cannot claim “absolute ownership” over plants and, moreover, that “individual plants have an inherent worth.”

Yes, plants have an inherent worth. You really know they are alive when they make up such a fine salad, and when you hear them sizzling on the grill, or being fried or sauted (simmered in butter or oil). Darn good eats. They work especially well with a variety of meats. My favorite is Ribeye, or Filet Mignon, but a good old Hamburger with the “fixin’s” will do just fine.

Moonbattery gets all the credit, or blame for me posting this. Here is a fine parody of the Save The Plants people by Arrogant Worms.

Just Give Peas A Chance

The Real Cost of Global Warming

Once again everyone jumped to conclusions when President Bush proposed some goals for greenhouse gases on April 23. What he called for was much wiser than the hysterical crap the gloworms are proposing. In short, he calls for stopping The Growth of greenhouse gases by 2025, while the Dems want an 80% Reduction by 2050. Even John McCain wants 65% by 2050. Do you have any idea of the damage to our economy and way of life that would cause? It would be worse than signing the Kyoto Treaty. Damn, I hope people wake up to this soon.

We all ought to reflect on what an 80% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050 really means. When we do, it becomes clear that the president’s target has one overwhelming virtue: Assuming emissions curbs are even necessary, his goal is at least realistic.

The same cannot be said for the carbon emissions targets espoused by the three presidential candidates and environmentalists. Indeed, these targets would send us back to emissions levels last witnessed when the cotton gin was in daily use.

Begin with the current inventory of carbon dioxide emissions – CO2 being the principal greenhouse gas generated almost entirely by energy use. According to the Department of Energy’s most recent data on greenhouse gas emissions, in 2006 the U.S. emitted 5.8 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide, or just under 20 tons per capita. An 80% reduction in these emissions from 1990 levels means that the U.S. cannot emit more than about one billion metric tons of CO2 in 2050.

Were man-made carbon dioxide emissions in this country ever that low? The answer is probably yes – from historical energy data it is possible to estimate that the U.S. last emitted one billion metric tons around 1910. But in 1910, the U.S. had 92 million people, and per capita income, in current dollars, was about $6,000.

By the year 2050, the Census Bureau projects that our population will be around 420 million. This means per capita emissions will have to fall to about 2.5 tons in order to meet the goal of 80% reduction.

And as you know if you’ve been here before, C02 is not a pollutant!

And consider this. Do you really want to go back to living in caves?

Today, the average residence in the U.S. uses about 10,500 kilowatt hours of electricity and emits 11.4 tons of CO2 per year (much more if you are Al Gore or John Edwards and live in a mansion). To stay within the magic number, average household emissions will have to fall to no more than 1.5 tons per year. In our current electricity infrastructure, this would mean using no more than about 2,500 KwH per year. This is not enough juice to run the average hot water heater.

You can forget refrigerators, microwaves, clothes dryers and flat screen TVs. Even a house tricked out with all the latest high-efficiency EnergyStar appliances and compact fluorescent lights won’t come close. The same daunting energy math applies to the industrial, commercial and transportation sectors as well. The clear implication is that we shall have to replace virtually the entire fossil fuel electricity infrastructure over the next four decades with CO2-free sources – a multitrillion dollar proposition, if it can be done at all.

The Kool-Aid drinkers are more of a threat than you may know. First of all, the economy will be ruined. And maybe even more important, by removing C02 from the environment, they may be helping us into the next Ice Age.

Still Think Bio-Fuel Is a Good Idea? !Updated! Video Added

Think again. Ethanol is 20 to 30 percent less efficient than gasoline, making it more expensive per highway mile. It takes 450 pounds of corn to produce the ethanol to fill one SUV tank. That’s enough corn to feed one person for a year. Plus, it takes more than one gallon of fossil fuel — oil and natural gas — to produce one gallon of ethanol. After all, corn must be grown, fertilized, harvested and trucked to ethanol producers — all of which are fuel-using activities. And it takes 1,700 gallons of water to produce one gallon of ethanol. On top of all this, if our total annual corn output were put to ethanol production, it would reduce gasoline consumption by 10 or 12 percent.

Here’s another very good explanation. I just couldn’t leave it out.

Ethanol production has driven up the prices of corn-fed livestock, such as beef, chicken and dairy products, and products made from corn, such as cereals. As a result of higher demand for corn, other grain prices, such as soybean and wheat, have risen dramatically. The U.S. position as the world’s largest grain producer and exporter means the ethanol-induced higher grain prices will have a worldwide impact on food prices.

And it leads to this.

Poverty, famine and violence are among the supposed products of global warming in the future. Yet these calamities are with us today thanks to a key element of “green” policy, biofuels. This feel-good measure is becoming a real-world disaster.

The prices of wheat and rice this year will have doubled since 2004, according to World Bank projections. Soybeans, sugar, soybean oil and corn are expected to be 56% to 79% costlier than in 2004. The bulk of the increases have come in the past year and can be attributed to the West’s push to turn these crops into fossil-fuel replacements like ethanol. Food prices will likely remain overinflated until at least 2015, the Bank says.

The result of these rising prices is that 100 million people could slip back into poverty, erasing seven years’ worth of gains, Bank President Robert Zoellick warned earlier this month. Food inflation and shortages have sparked riots from Egypt to the Philippines, and six people were killed in Haiti alone during nine days of related unrest there this month.

The Rest Here
Another example of feel good politics being put in place before all the problems are considered. And considering the ineffectiveness of ethanol as an alternative fuel, this has to be one of the biggest scams out there.

Nobody Listening To The Goracle

Nobel Peace Prize-winner Al Gore said in an interview published Monday that there had been no improvement in the fight against climate change since his Oscar-winning film on the issue was released.Speaking to The Sun tabloid, the former US vice-president said that the situation had instead gotten worse since his documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” hit cinemas in 2006.

“I have to say the situation has not improved since I made the movie in 2006,” Gore told the paper.

“Sure, awareness has grown and more people are concerned since scientists said we had just 10 years to take action to halt rising sea levels. But the situation has got worse. The entire North Polar ice cap is melting and could be gone in some areas in as little as five years.

“You have to ask what would it take to set off the alarm bells to make this a top-of-mind priority in the body politic.

“If you had told me a few years ago that we would be facing a situation where the entire North Polar ice cap was going to imminently disappear, I might have thought we’d certainly get people’s attention, and yet only to a limited degree.”

Well isn’t that a shame? People are wising up to the Goracle and his cult, thus his $300 million assault on the very tiny minority that believe the earth is flat.

The Earth Can Heal Without Our Help

Who’da Thunk It? With all of the crying and whining about saving saving the planet, it seems it might be better to leave well enough alone. (bold is mine)

Half a century after the atomic blasts that devastated Bikini Atoll, vast expanses of corals in the area seem to be flourishing once again, much to the surprise of scientists.
American government scientists detonated a hydrogen bomb on the tiny island (a part of the Marshall Islands in the western Pacific) on March 1, 1954, and about 20 other nuclear tests were carried out on the atoll between 1946 and 1958.
Many of the natives were moved to Kili Island and today are compensated by the United States government.
Code-named Castle Bravo, the hydrogen bomb was the most powerful nuclear weapon ever exploded at the time at 15 megatons, making it 1,000 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima in World War II.
The massive explosion vaporized everything on three islands in the atoll, raised water temperatures to 55,000 degrees and left a crater that was 1.2 miles (2 kilometers) wide and 240 feet (73 meters) deep.
A team of scientists recently led a diving expedition into Bravo Crater and found an unexpectedly thriving coral community.
“I didn’t know what to expect — some kind of moonscape perhaps. But it was incredible, huge matrices of branching Porites coral (up to 8 meters [25 feet] high) had established, creating a thriving coral reef habitat,” said study team member Zoe Richards of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies and James Cook University.
“Throughout other parts of the lagoon it was awesome to see coral cover as high as 80 percent and large tree-like branching coral formations with trunks 30 centimeters [12 inches] thick.”
A nearby atoll is likely seeding the coral recovery, the scientists think, and because the island is rarely visited, the coral is left to recover.
Richards said that the healthy condition of the Bikini corals was a sign of the resilience of corals after a major disturbance, if left undisturbed to recuperate.

They did have to add this however

The news wasn’t all good however, as there was a disturbingly high level of loss of coral species from around the atoll.
Forty-two species of corals are missing compared to a study made before the atomic tests were carried out.
Though ambient radiation readings are fairly low at Bikini, radioactive material accumulates in the soil and in produce such as coconuts, making them unsafe to eat.
It is unlikely that the Bikini natives will be able to return to the atoll in the near future, the scientists said.

But I wouldn’t worry too much. After all, they did say nothing would ever live there again and after only 50 years there is not only life, but Incredible and Awesome growth of the coral. There is also food on the island. And the scientists are once again surprised. Why? Because we have been brainwashed into believing the worst about America and it’s technology. So, what about nuclear power now? What about the 1000 year Half Life we have been told about? Maybe, just maybe, that was another stretch of the truth? After all, nuclear power has only been around for about 50 years, so what can we know about it’s Half Life?

The Moonbats, Treehuggers, Greenies and Gloworms still hate it, so as long as the liberals have a say we won’t have any choice. Just like the BILLIONS of barrels of oil going to waste in ANWAR and off of our coastlines that could sustain us until we can get away from the Mideast oil cartel, the liberals cannot even see the the obvious. Nuclear power is not the evil monster it was made out to be.

It’s kind of ironic that the French, which the liberals want us to be more like, get almost 80% of their power from nuclear power plants without a problem.
