It must be as perplexing to his many admirers as it is frustrating to himself that a man of Vice President Gore’s many talents, great skills and strong beliefs is one of the most consistent losers in American politics.

“All political careers end in failure,” said Enoch Powell; Gore has not won an election on his own since his 1990 re-election to the Senate from Tennessee. His 1988 presidential bid ended well short of the nomination. Many observers felt Gore was headed for defeat in a third Senate campaign as the south continued to swing Republican; Clinton’s offer of the vice presidential slot in 1992 gave Gore the opportunity to reach a national audience as his home state cooled. On his own again in 2000, gifted by the departing Clinton with the most bubbliciously expanding economy in American history and a comfortable budget surplus, and insulated from the innuendo and scandal of the Clinton White House by his still-vibrant marriage, he found the elusive road to defeat against a flawed and inexperienced challenger. Tennessee voted for Bush; Florida or no Florida Gore would have gone to the White House if those who knew him longest and best had rallied to his support.

Once out of office, he assumed the leadership of the global green movement, steering that movement into a tsunami of defeat that, when the debris is finally cleared away, will loom as one of the greatest failures of civil society in all time.

Man Made Global Warming is Definitely Still Happening

As your boiler breaks down, your pipes freeze, your car won’t start, your Ocado delivery fails to arrive, your train is cancelled, your neck is broken after slipping on black ice and you lie in an emergency ward waiting for a doctor to turn up only to learn that they’re all off today because of the weather, you might be forgiven for thinking that all this has something to do with global cooling, changes in the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, and the decline in sunspot activity perhaps auguring a new Maunder minimum.

But you couldn’t be more wrong.

“It’s all actually a sign that man made global warming is very much a live issue and that there’s more of it happening than ever,” says a top scientist, who holds the British record for securing grant-funding for global warming research projects so he must know what he’s talking about.

“Look at the Met office,” the scientist goes on. “They’ve just told us that 2010 is the hottest year since records began in 1850 and even though the stupid Central England Temperature record tells us something quite different and even though the year hasn’t actually finished yet they must know what they’re talking about and they definitely can’t have fiddled the data because the Met office is part of the government and they wouldn’t lie or get things wrong which is why that barbecue summer was such a scorcher.”

The big problem is, the scientist said, is that the public are really stupid. They think just because Dr David Viner of the Climatic Research Unit said in the Independent in 2000 that soon there’d be no snow because of global warming, when what he actually meant was that soon there’d be lots of snow and that this would be “proof” of global warming. The interviewer just missed out the word “proof” that’s all because journalists are lazy that way.

Eco-Nuts’ Next Target: Anesthetic Gases

First they came for your DDT…  malaria killed millions and is still killing.  Then they banned fluorocarbons… the hole in the ozone closed and global warming increased.  Next they came after freon… it’s replacement is 4000 times more harmful to the environment. Co2 is on their list… no exhaling for you and no inhaling for plant life. Now it appears they are about to screw with your anesthesia:

When your doctor turns on the gas during surgery you go to sleep. You may be having pleasant dreams, but you are also contributing to global warming, according to a study released Friday by the University of Copenhagen.

Each year, surgery related gases affect the climate as much as one million cars, reports the study done in conjunction with NASA and the University of Michigan medical school.

Ole John Nielsen, a professor of atmospheric chemistry at the University of Copenhagen carried out the study which examined three gases, isoflurane, sevoflurane and desflurane, used regularly in human medicine. Nielsen says all three are worse than C02.

Nielsen said the mildest of the two are isoflurane and sevoflurane. He said the study finds desflurane the most harmful and will cause 1,620 times as much global warming as an equal amount of C02. Isoflurane and sevoflurane have global warming potentials of 210 and 510 respectively.

“This ought to make anesthesiologists sit up and take notice. If all three compounds have equal therapeutic worth, there is every reason to choose the one with the lowest global warming potential”, Nielsen said.

“The amount of gas needed for a single surgical procedure is not high, but each year surgery related anaesthetics affects the climate as much as would one million cars,” says the study published in the December issue of the British Journal of Anesthesia.

The gases were studied at the Ford atmospheric laboratories near Detroit.

NASA’s Mads Andersen collaborated with Nielsen and came up with the idea for the study while his wife was giving birth.

“The anesthesiologist told me, that the gas used is what we chemists know as a halogenated compound. That’s the same family . . . as the Freon that was famously eating the ozone layer back in the ’80s,” Andersen said.

Freon has been banned around the world since 1992.

What? Al Gore would LIE to get his way?

We knew it all along but here it is from the horse’s ass…

Nobel laureate Al Gore said this weekend that tax breaks for corn-based ethanol are “not good policy” and that he only supported these subsidies in order to assist his eventual run for president.

Reuters Africa reported Monday the former Vice President made these comments while speaking to a green energy conference in Athens.

“It is not a good policy to have these massive subsidies for first generation ethanol,” said Gore.

According to the International Energy Industry, such subsidies totaled $7.7 billion last year. Yet Gore now thinks this was a mistake.

“The energy conversion ratios are at best very small. It’s hard once such a program is put in place to deal with the lobbies that keep it going,” he said.

Readers are reminded that Gore was the tie-breaking vote in the Senate mandating the use of ethanol in 1994.

So why did the man media view as one of the world’s foremost environmentalists support such a program?

“One of the reasons I made that mistake is that I paid particular attention to the farmers in my home state of Tennessee, and I had a certain fondness for the farmers in the state of Iowa because I was about to run for president.”

What a saint.

So more than ten years ago, Gore supported an expensive, “not good policy” because he thought it would help him get elected president.

Yet media don’t believe he’d misrepresent the threat of manmade global warming in order to become extremely rich.

The bigger question is whether or not this matter will get any attention here in America, or if the Gore-loving media will choose to ignore this stunning revelation.

German Entrepreneur Outwits Green Nitwits

Congratulations to German ingenuity. If you can’t beat em, go around em.

BERLIN (Reuters) – A German entrepreneur is bypassing a European Union ban on light bulbs of more than 60 watts by marketing his own brand as mini heaters.

Siegfried Rotthaeuser and his brother-in-law have come up with a legal way of importing and distributing 75 and 100 watt light bulbs — by producing them in China, importing them as “small heating devices” and selling them as “heatballs.”

To improve energy efficiency, the EU has banned the sale of bulbs of over 60 watts — to the annoyance of the mechanical engineer from the western city of Essen.

Rotthaeuser studied EU legislation and realized that because the inefficient old bulbs produce more warmth than light — he calculated heat makes up 95 percent of their output, and light just 5 percent — they could be sold legally as heaters.

On their website (http://heatball.de/), the two engineers describe the heatballs as “action art” and as “resistance against legislation which is implemented without recourse to democratic and parliamentary processes.”

Costing 1.69 euros each ($2.38), the heatballs are going down well — the first batch of 4,000 sold out in three days.

Rotthaeuser has pledged to donate 30 cents of every heatball sold to saving the rainforest, which the 49-year-old sees as a better way of protecting the environment than investing in energy-saving lamps, which contain toxic mercury.

It's all falling apart

 

Professor Emiritus Hal Lewis has resigned from the American Physical Society over the Global Warming Fraud.

It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.

So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it. For example:

1. About a year ago a few of us sent an e-mail on the subject to a fraction of the membership. APS ignored the issues, but the then President immediately launched a hostile investigation of where we got the e-mail addresses. In its better days, APS used to encourage discussion of important issues, and indeed the Constitution cites that as its principal purpose. No more. Everything that has been done in the last year has been designed to silence debate

2. The appallingly tendentious APS statement on Climate Change was apparently written in a hurry by a few people over lunch, and is certainly not representative of the talents of APS members as I have long known them. So a few of us petitioned the Council to reconsider it. One of the outstanding marks of (in)distinction in the Statement was the poison word incontrovertible, which describes few items in physics, certainly not this one. In response APS appointed a secret committee that never met, never troubled to speak to any skeptics, yet endorsed the Statement in its entirety. (They did admit that the tone was a bit strong, but amazingly kept the poison word incontrovertible to describe the evidence, a position supported by no one.) In the end, the Council kept the original statement, word for word, but approved a far longer “explanatory” screed, admitting that there were uncertainties, but brushing them aside to give blanket approval to the original. The original Statement, which still stands as the APS position, also contains what I consider pompous and asinine advice to all world governments, as if the APS were master of the universe. It is not, and I am embarrassed that our leaders seem to think it is. This is not fun and games, these are serious matters involving vast fractions of our national substance, and the reputation of the Society as a scientific society is at stake.

In 2007, bin Laden warned that “all of mankind is in danger because of the global warming resulting to a large degree from the emissions of the factories of the major corporations,” and that this was causing “the death and displacement of millions of human beings because of that, especially in Africa.” As early as 2002, in a letter to the American people, bin Laden explained that one of the reasons he was waging war on the United States was that Americans “have destroyed nature with your industrial waste and gases more than any other nation in history.” In other words, the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers were brought down because America lacked adequate carbon emission controls.

Sometimes It Just Aint Easy Being Green

One day last summer I had left mycar parked out under the sun while I lunched with a friend only to find when I came back to it at about 4.30 in the afternoon that the thermometer of the car read 50 degrees centigrade. There was no way that I could get into that car as I couldn’t even touch the steering wheel and certainly couldn’t sit down on the seat so I had to turn the engine on and stand outside while I left the air conditioning run for at least 10 minutes in order to cool it down enough for me to be able to get in.  I know that I was guilty in that moment of adding to the harm caused in the ozone layer and consequently the climate but when faced with such heat one’s logic no longer works well!

Growing Arctic Ice Confounds The Cult, Global Warming Must Have Caused It

As their world continues to fall apart around them, the Global Warming Cult continues to say increasing cold and ice cannot be a sign global warming is coming to an end. 10 years of no warming and increasing polar ice caps, glaciers expanding, record cold and record snow will not make them budge. They are beyond help.

The amount of sea ice covering the Arctic dramatically increased last month, reaching levels not seen at this time of year for nearly a decade.

Returning ice – after years of declining cover – has astonished climate scientists who blamed unusually cold weather over the Bering Sea.

Researchers said they recorded the most ice in March since 2001 – and that the cover is approaching long-term average levels for the first time in ten years.

The scientists who released the data stressed that last month’s rise was part of yearly variations in ice cover and could not be taken as a sign that global warming is coming to an end.

This Is What Makes Glaciers Melt

Well damn, I’m going to have to give them this one, a glacier is melting due to global warming.

REYKJAVIK, Iceland – Authorities evacuated hundreds of people after a volcano erupted beneath a glacier in southern Iceland, Iceland’s civil protection agency said Sunday.

The eruption occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday (1930 EDT) beneath the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, the fifth largest glacier in Iceland.The volcano is covered by an ice cap.

Fearing flooding from the glacier melt, authorities evacuated some 400 people in the area 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of the capital, Reykjavik, said Vidir Reynisson, the department manager for the Icelandic Civil Protection Department.

The last time the volcano erupted was in the 1820s.

“We do not at this moment know the full extent of the eruption but a team is flying over the site now to evaluate the situation,” said Reynisson.

Glaciers are melting, and global warming is to blame. But it’s not humans causing it.
