What is wrong with these people? This probably makes sense to the warped minds of the Eco-nuts, but what is the gain here? Turn out the lights for an hour, and set off some carbon spewing fireworks. They can’t even stage a decent protest. Do they even know what they are supposed to be doing anymore? Sheesh….

I just couldn’t get past the foolishness of turning out the lights and burning candles instead to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. The mellow yellow flame from candles comes from carbon being oxidized into carbon dioxide.
I suppose the fools think that Brazilian farmers grew those paraffin candles on a rainforest friendly paraffin plantation and the flames give out Gaia-loving oxygen.
Well, fireworks are one way to illuminate the night so that fools walking around in the dark don’t get killed. Think of it as public safety.
It just proves another of my points about these people and their save the earth, garbage. The always go off half cocked, and not only do they accomplish nothing, they make a bigger mess than when they started. (the spotted owl?)
I have nothing against saving the earth; don’t get me wrong. I like breathing clean air and drinking clean water.
I believe that most of those shallow people making stupid symbolic gestures could do far more good for the environment if they would spend a few hours a week picking up trash from roadsides. Since that involves actual effort, it’s something that probably isn’t going to happen soon.

We have the Adopt a Highway plan here where people or organizations adopt a 2 mile piece of the highway and keep it clean. Works pretty good.
